JES Students Visit Veterans

It's a tradition at Jordan Elementary to celebrate Veteran's Day, and this year, the school did something different.

After hearing about a group of veterans who meet at Costco for lunch every Friday, the school reached out to one of the veterans in the hopes that the JES student council could visit on Friday, November 10. Before the visit, students made cards that the student council delivered.

"They had an opportunity to meet everyone and ask them questions about their military service," said JES principal Chad Walker. "They met men and women who served in all the different branches of the military. Two of the veterans served in World War II. Watching the veterans interact with the students was special to see. It was a positive experience for everyone to learn about the importance of service and celebrating the men and women who have helped secure our freedoms."

Throughout the rest of the week, the school's closed-circuit broadcast, JES-TV, featured veterans who are also family members of students.
