COVID-19 Positive Case Data - February 1, 2022

  • WCS COVID-19 Data

    Published February 1, 2022

The district is publishing positive COVID-19 case data each week. School-specific numbers are available on the WCS COVID-19 webpage.

Each Tuesday, the number of positive COVID cases for students and staff will be posted on the WCS website and in the InFocus newsletter. The information on the website will be in alphabetical order by school. The data reflects positive cases reported for the last seven days.

The data below is as of Tuesday, February 1:

    • 399 staff with a confirmed positive case
    • 934 students with a confirmed positive case

Families are asked to keep their students home if they are not feeling well or if anyone in the home is experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Families may also reference the updated WCS Illness Guidelines.

The district's assistant superintendents talk with principals daily about staffing needs for each building. While some schools are able to fill all positions open due to absences, others are not.

Over the past two weeks, seven schools have shifted to remote instruction for all students or specific grade bands (Hillsboro 6-8). The district must request and approve permission from the State to transition to remote learning based on the impact of COVID-19 on staffing. In addition, per State rules, all extracurricular activities must be canceled or postponed while remote learning is taking place.

The district continues to adjust to COVID and other illnesses affecting our staff and students, and there are a number of job opportunities available, including teachers, substitute teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers and teacher assistants. Anyone interested in applying should visit the WCS website.
