High Schools Help Collect Food for Those In Need

High schools across Williamson County helped collect thousands of pounds of food for families in need.

During the annual Drive Away Hunger food drive, Page High collected 38,293 pounds of food, the highest in the district. Renaissance High collected 143 pounds per student, the highest average in WCS.

"Page High encourages all students, faculty and community to participate in the annual canned food drive because we feel it is important to serve those in our community," said PHS marketing teacher Tristan Brown. "We chose to donate to the College Grove Food Pantry because we know it is impacting the community our students live in. The food pantry serves over 30 families per week and relies heavily on local fundraisers to serve those in need. I think our Page family gives so much because they know they are potentially helping their fellow student or neighbor."

In total, WCS high schools collected 130,256 pounds of food. The food will be donated to an organization of each school's choice. The total pounds collected by each participating high school are listed below:
