Art
Grassland Elementary hosts an evening to be “Inspired!”. This will feature all the students’ art and each student will have a piece of art matted and displayed. Grassland Elementary has an active art program that introduces students to many types of art and various artists. The success of this program can be viewed all along Grassland hallways as student art is showcased for all to appreciate. Music
Grassland Elementary students enjoy a 45 minute weekly music lesson. They experience music through singing, playing instruments, listening to music, moving or dancing, playing games, creating and learning to read music. Students explore music from different genres, musical periods and cultures throughout the year. Lessons provided through “Quaver’s Marvelous World of Music”, an internet-based curriculum, provide students with many opportunities to build and develop musicianship and 21st century critical thinking skills. This curriculum is aligned with the National Coalition for Core Arts Standards, or NCCAS, as well as the Tennessee Academic Standards for Fine Arts Education and has been adopted for all Williamson County K – 8 music programs. New opportunities, challenges, and skills are introduced at different grade levels as children mature and develop readiness. Classroom activities, use of technology, and grade level performances as well as our “Lights, Camera, Grassland” Talent Show help students gain confidence and competence throughout the year. Most importantly, our goal through the Grassland Elementary music program, is to cultivate in our students a life-long enjoyment of, curiosity about, and appreciation for music.

Technology
Students at GES have many opportunities to use various technological tools. Each student is provided with individual chromebooks, has access to microphones and digital cameras. WCS requires that each student sign and follow the Acceptable Use Policy.
Computer Technology is being incorporated into the library period, which is becoming a Learning Commons. This will promote a passion for lifelong learning by providing a collaborative environment where learners can inquire, create, reflect and expand their love for reading. We are very excited to move into this program that will meet the computer standards and skills for each student to be successful.
With the coaching of Ms. Lamberth, students will work toward becoming proficient users of technology appropriate to his or her age to develop in the following areas:
Creativity and Innovation
Communication and Collaboration
Research and Information Fluency
Critical Thinking
Problem Solving and Decision Making
Digital Citizenship
