Important Admissions Information
-
What does a typical day look like for students?
- Teachers will post a weekly rollout of instruction, assignments, quizzes and tests via Schoology. Teachers will also offer live instructional opportunities regularly.
- Students will complete course work independently and work with teachers as needed.
-
What is required weekly?
- Students attend Homeroom via Zoom every Tuesday 10:30 - 11:00 AM. During homeroom, students and teachers will walk through the student's weekly agenda and discuss upcoming school events and academic needs.
- Students will create their own daily schedule to stay current with assigned work by making academic progress in each class every day.
-
What supports does VVHS in place for students to be successful both academically and socially?
V.I.P.E.R. Nights (Vanguard In-Person Enrichment and Remediation Nights)
Connect with other VVHS students, homework help, meet with your teachers, and ACT and test prep.
VIM (Virtual Intervention Meetings)
For students who are failing 1 or more classes, VVHS requires they attend an intervention meeting each week they have a failing average. At these meetings, the student team works with students to determine what issues they are encountering and create individual plans to get back on track. The plan may involve Zooming with the content-area teachers and creating a schedule by which past due work will be completed. The goal for all students who are in VIM is to reach academic success by bringing class averages up to passing in all classes within 1-2 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What if VVHS does not offer a course in my child's area of elective focus?
Our school counselor will work with all families once students are accepted to determine how to accommodate any scheduling needs. Some students may have to change their elective focus area. To avoid losing earned credits, some students may need an elective focus waiver.
-
What if my student wishes to work ahead or finish early?
Work is released each week and can be completed with flexibility within that week. VVHS does not offer a self-paced opportunity for students.
-
What if we need to meet someone from VVHS?
Our school office is located in the WCS Central Office building. We meet in person by appointment only; however, we typically hold Zoom meetings.
-
What if we travel within or outside the country during the school year?
Students are expected to make progress in every class every school day. Students are unable to access WCS accounts outside of the United States.
-
What if my student needs Credit Recovery?
VVHS offers the same opportunities to earn high school credit as the WCS traditional high schools.
-
What if my student wants to take high-stakes tests (EOC, AP, ACT, or PSAT tests) online from home?
According to the mandates from the state, students must take high-stakes tests in person. VVHS will communicate dates, locations and times well in advance.
-
What if my student wants to finish their courses early or take them at their own pace?
VVHS follows the WCS school calendar and has a daily attendance requirement. Students are not able to set their own pacing or work far enough ahead to finish their courses before the semester ends.
-
What if my student wants to take some classes at their zoned school?
VVHS students must take all their classes through VVHS. Hybrid options are only available to students enrolled in a traditional WCS high school with a maximum of three online courses.
-
What if my student currently has an out-of-zone exemption?
If a student accepts an offer to enroll with VVHS, any current out-of-zone exemptions are negated.
-
What if we are not currently zoned for a Williamson County High School?
VVHS enrollment opportunities are only available to students zoned for a WCS High School.
