The Ravenwood High choir is being recognized for its excellence by a national organization.

The RHS choir concert, Cluster Concert: Connection Choirs Across the Country, earned the Advocacy in Action Award in the Student Recruitment, Engagement and Retention category from Music for All. The award is given to programs that demonstrate a commitment to building and sustaining a high-quality school music program.

"I am so grateful to have been selected as a National Advocacy in Action Awards recipient," said RHS choir director Rose Hellmers. "I hope that being recognized for this award will serve to further the goal that earned it for us in the first place: growing our Ravenwood choir community so we can reach more students and share with them the profoundly positive impact music can have on their lives."

Music for All is an organization that provides ensemble experiences, hands-on opportunities for individual student performance training and growth and teacher professional development. Music for All is also committed to informing and empowering students, parents and teachers to be engaged advocates for the arts and music education in their communities and across the nation.

"Our Ravenwood choir singers hold themselves to a high standard of excellence," Hellmers said. "From their preparation to their performance, they work hard each day to improve, help each other and make music as an ensemble that can reach our audiences. I'm so grateful to work with these wonderful students."
