Bethesda Parents,
For the past few years, our Bethesda student Supply Kits have cost approximately $75. In these prior kits, there have been some items that we could potentially purchase as a school at a more affordable price if we bought them in bulk. Past supply kits have also included items like folders that the teachers would prefer to match for their entire class, but of course the supply kits are optional so not all of the folders end up matching in the long run.
Because of these reasons, we are going to try something new this year!
This year, we have removed those items that we can purchase at a bulk discount price or that need to match for all students. Instead of charging $75 for the supply kit, the cost is closer to $50 - $53, depending on the grade level. Then, when school starts in August, we will ask parents to voluntarily contribute a $25 Class Fee, allowing us to purchase the missing items from the supply kits at a more affordable price, thereby stretching your dollars and helping your child’s teachers get exactly what they need for their entire class.
We hope that you’ll appreciate this lower cost for the Supply Kits and will consider contributing the voluntary Class Fee when we return to school in August!
For those of you who prefer to purchase your student’s school supplies on your own, the 2023-24 Supply Lists are posted on our school website under “Resources.” As with the packaged Supply Kits, you’ll notice a shorter list compared to prior years, with our hope being that we can still purchase these needed supplies with the voluntary Class Fee contributions.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
