Art
The Art Department at Thompson’s Station creates an atmosphere for students to learn a variety of techniques using the mediums of crayons, markers, oil pastels, color sticks, paint, paper, clay, etc. Art history studies movements in art and the way artists have influenced and been influenced in the world around them. Technology has been used to help students search for information and comparing artworks. Students are expected to continually strive to improve their craftsmanship. Each child is encouraged to express himself or herself using elements of art and principles of design. Student art work is displayed through an exhibit at a Nashville, TN art museum and the WCS Spring Find Arts Festival.

Through literature, technology, research, multiple types of media, and classroom collaboration, the library program infuses many forms of learning that directly correlate to that taking place throughout the building. By helping students find interesting and appropriate reading material, offering practice and support through Accelerated Reader, and acknowledging students as they reach their reading goals. The library endeavors to be a vibrant, popular, and thriving reading program. Visit the Media Center page to see more details on the library program, tools and resources.

Music
Through singing, playing instruments and creative movement, the Thompson’s Station Elementary music program is focused on helping students explore their musical talents. We endeavor to help all students develop an appreciation for music of various styles and genres, improve listening skills, build confidence in performing, and prepare for the option of joining band or chorus in middle school. Students in grades K-3 will be showcased in a grade-level music performance once a year. Recorder and Ukulele lessons are a part of the fourth and fifth grade curriculum, and students in these grades also have the option to join the elementary school chorus for performance opportunities at school. We look forward to helping your child experience the joys of making music at Thompson's Station Elementary!
