Library Visits
Each class has a scheduled time to receive library instruction, return books and select new ones. Individual students may also come to check out books throughout the day with teacher permission.
During library instruction students are taught how to navigate the library, take AR tests, and choose good fit books. They are also given many opportunities to use technology to find a book for every interest.

Checking Out Books
Students are able to checkout books throughout the week during their library specials class and through open checkout. Each grade level is allowed to checkout a certain number of books:
- Kindergarten and First grade may check out one book at a time.
- Second grade may check out two books at a time.
- Third, Fourth and Fifth grade students may check out three books at a time.
Students have daily access to the library, and may with teacher permission, check out a new book daily. Books may be renewed one time and then must be returned for others to enjoy. There is not a fine for overdue books. However, if a student has an overdue book, checkout privileges may be denied until the book is returned.

Damaged and Lost Books
Please return damaged books to the library for repair. Accidents can and do happen. Pets chew books, younger siblings color in them, water bottles leak. Books damaged while checked out to a student will be assessed by the librarian to determine whether repairs can be made. If necessary, a letter detailing the damage along with replacement costs will be sent home for books damaged beyond repair. Check out privileges may be denied until the replacement costs are paid. Books that have not surfaced in 30 days are presumed to be lost. An overdue bill with the replacement cost of the book will be sent home in April with payment due by the last day of school.

SORA
This list of books on the Sora site are auto-generated from Sora based on publisher recommended interest levels. However, there are books listed which are set at a higher grade level in WCS. Students may only view what is available at their level in the Sora App on Classlink.
