Basketball, Boys
We strive to develop the whole person in our Boys' Basketball program by building genuine relationships that carry over off the court and beyond their high school career. We believe a FvHS Basketball player should strive to do his best in all walks of life while positively impacting his community, school, and peers. Try-Outs: Summer Tryouts- Last day of school in May. Fall Tryouts- 1st official practice, typically at the end of Oct. Dead Period: Last week of June and 1st week of July. This is a designated time for student athletes to be free of all athletic obligations. There is ZERO contact between players and coaches during this time. Many parents of high school athletes choose this time for family vacations. June- Typically various team camps, skill development, and practices along with weight training. July- Football players leave for football and basketball practices are reduced in numbers per week. Fall Off Season- Once school starts back, basketball players who are not participating in a Fall sport can take advantage of our student strength and conditioning program that is open to all students. This is a 3 day a week, after-school strength and conditioning program. There are also weekly open gym opportunities during this time. The season begins with a 2-week practice period that starts late Oct. There are usually play dates scheduled during this time for final preparation for the upcoming season. The regular season starts in early Nov and runs through early Feb. Post-Season- District Tournaments are held at a host school mid Feb. The top 4 teams from a district advance to the Region Tournament in the 1st week of March for schools that advance. For the 2 teams that make it to the Regional Championship game, there is a Sectional game with the winners advancing to the State Tournament in mid-March. Any student not already in the basketball program wanting to play basketball at Fairview High should contact Coach: Trey McCoy
